It adopts Chord Electronics' ULTIMA amplifier topology, and has RCA inputs and loudspeaker outputs on 4 mm banana sockets.

On the front panel, colour-illuminated buttons control power and the AV bypass function; the vents in the casework take care of heat dissipation. A solid aluminium cover block can be removed to expose the connections for the direct integration of the Suzi Pre preamplifier or the Hugo 2 DAC.

A modular system

Chord describes five configurations of the Suzi system. The Suzi Amp works alone as a stereo power amplifier; with the Suzi Pre it becomes a compact pre/power amplifier with phono stage and headphone output; with the Hugo 2 it forms a DAC with amplifier; with Hugo 2 and the 2go streamer it becomes a streaming amplifier with Roon Endpoint and DLNA/UPnP connectivity, with the option of storing music on the two MicroSD cards of the 2go. The fifth is the Suzi Pre used on its own.

One of the two RCA inputs is reserved for the Hugo 2. When the Suzi Amp is connected to the Suzi Pre or the Hugo 2 a headphone pass-through is active, on 3.5 mm and 6.35 mm sockets, and a 12 V DC output serves other compatible Chord devices. For the Hugo 2 and Suzi Amp pairing there is a USB multiplexer, an accessory sold separately, which connects to the two Micro USB inputs of the Hugo 2 and adds USB-B data inputs and a USB-C socket for data and charging. Suzi Pre, Hugo 2 and 2go are separate units from the Suzi Amp.

Technical data

Output power: 30 W into 8 Ω.

Inputs: 2 RCA pairs (one reserved for the Hugo 2).

Outputs: 1 pair of 4 mm banana sockets for the loudspeakers; 1 × 12 V DC socket.

Headphone pass-through: 3.5 mm and 6.35 mm, active with Suzi Pre or Hugo 2.

Maximum input voltage: 3 V RMS.

Maximum output voltage: 15 V RMS into 8 Ω.

Total harmonic distortion: 0.01 %.

Signal-to-noise ratio: 116 dB.

Operating voltage: 80-250 V.

Controls: front-panel buttons for power and AV bypass.

Finishes: black and silver.
