It uses single pairs of FET transistors, measured and matched by hand so that their values are identical, and very short signal paths: the music crosses just two transistors and a volume attenuator with extremely low noise.

The circuit is balanced from input to output: for each channel there are two amplifiers, two volume controls and two SoundEngine modules, the Hegel technology that corrects intermodulation distortion in real time with a feed forward scheme. The fixed-level Home Theatre input lets it join a multichannel system and can also be configured as a normal input. The variable outputs are active all together, so several devices can be connected; one of the two RCA can become a fixed-level one. The remote control adjusts volume, source and mute.

Technical features

Inputs: two balanced XLR, three unbalanced RCA and a Home Theatre input

Outputs: one XLR balanced plus two RCA unbalanced, at variable level

Other connections: direct IR input and 12 V trigger output, both on 3.5 mm jacks

Signal-to-noise ratio: above 130 dB in balanced operation

Crosstalk: below -100 dB

Distortion: under 0.005%; intermodulation under 0.01%

Finish: black

Size and weight: height 9.6 cm, width 43 cm, depth 30 cm; 7.2 kg
