IB stands for infinite baffle: it is made to play with no dedicated enclosure, yet it can also be used in a box. It handles 250 W RMS continuously into 4 ohms.

The Luxe grille, low in profile and larger in diameter, comes in two finishes: Gloss White and Satin Black.

Key features

10-inch subwoofer, 4 ohm nominal impedance

250 W RMS continuous power

Suggested amplifier 75 to 250 W RMS

Sensitivity 86.1 dB (1 W/1 m)

Linear excursion Xmax 13 mm

Injection-moulded polypropylene cone with mica filler

Bass

The woofer is optimised with DMA, the proprietary JL Audio technology that acts on the motor, the suspension and the cone profile to lower distortion, improve transient response and deliver clean, well controlled bass. The result is bass that stands out for cleanness, and just as much for smoothness, balance and precision. The M6 series is made to benefit from a quality amplifier.

Parameters

For system designers: free-air resonance 43.76 Hz, Qts 0.840, Vas 27.75 litres, linear excursion Xmax 13 mm, effective piston area 0.0323 square metres, DC resistance 4.543 ohms. It therefore needs a different cutout, 268 mm instead of 225 mm: a measurement to check before cutting.

Installation

Outer diameter is 319 mm and the cutout measures 268 mm. Weight is 6.0 kg. The grille stands 14 mm proud of the panel, the fixing holes lie on a 291 mm circle and the driver displaces 2.80 litres. The grille comes off with the supplied tool. Terminals are fork type. Like the rest of the series, this model is made to live at sea and to cope with salt water in the long run.

What's in the box

One subwoofer

One grille

Six stainless fixing screws

Six stainless washers

Grille removal tool

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0615/5278/7645/files/jl-audio-m6-10ib-luxe-gloss-white-meiep.jpg?v=1791108376
