The enclosure is HDPE, the high-density polyethylene also found in buried water mains, picked for stiffness and water-tightness; inside sits one long-throw woofer made from moisture-resistant materials. Above ground only the mushroom-shaped hood is visible, and it has three jobs: spreading bass evenly, sheltering the driver from the weather and keeping fresh air moving through. The unit is rated IP58, meaning limited protection from dust entering and resistance to prolonged immersion.

This is a passive subwoofer and needs an external amplifier. The woofer has two 8 ohm voice coils and the minimum load, wired mono, is 4 ohms. A 200 Hz low-pass filter confines it to the bass range, with stated extension down to 35 Hz. Power handling is 200 W and Paradigm recommends amplifiers from 15 to 400 W per channel. Sensitivity is 85 dB, rising to 89 dB when measured outdoors.

Paradigm offers it as a partner for its conventional outdoor loudspeakers, the Stylus and Rock Monitor ranges, when an existing installation lacks the lowest octaves. It is also the same subwoofer found in the Garden Oasis Essentials system: owners of that system can add a second one for more bass in the garden or to serve another zone, such as the poolside or the patio.

Specifications

Type: passive buried subwoofer, one long-throw woofer

Enclosure: HDPE (high-density polyethylene)

Woofer: 203 mm, two 8 ohm voice coils, water-resistant materials

Filter: 200 Hz low-pass

Bass extension: 35 Hz

Sensitivity: 85 dB, 89 dB outdoors

Recommended amplifier: 15-400 W per channel

Peak input power: 200 W

Impedance: 4 ohm minimum in mono

Protection: IP58

Dimensions (diameter × depth): 56 × 35 cm, hood included

Weight: 8 kg
