The 555 PS benefits from decades of experience and the relentless pursuit of the best possible sound quality. Its massive transformer, about 40% larger than the one used for the power supply XPS, has 5 separate windings with 7 regulated supply voltage outputs, including a specific output for use with the clock circuitry of the CD555.
The 555 PS was upgraded in 2012, the result of a 2 year project to develop a new discrete regulator (DR) for Naim power supplies. The new Naim DR now features improvements to the wiring, mechanical decoupling and internal layout of the components. These updates, developed through intensive listening tests, significantly improve performance and make music even more communicative and engaging.
