Characteristics
The balanced output ensures a fully balanced signal flow from the cartridge to the speakers
Paired with the C-5000 pre-amplifier and M-5000 power amplifier, Yamaha offers a top-of-the-line set of models with a balanced signal path from beginning to end of the chain for unique performance.
Proprietary Belt Drive to Stabilize the Platter
The GT-5000's proprietary belt drive mechanism minimizes the incidence of motor cogging and eliminates feedback control for smooth, wide-reaching sound. The GT design of the time used the concept of internal mass to counterbalance feedback. The GT-5000 achieves the same feedback cancellation goal with belt drive.
GT Series Project
Recalling the 'Golden Age' of Hi-Fi, the GT-5000 is inspired by Yamaha's 'Giants and Tremends' range of turntables - featuring solid wooden shells and platters to absorb vibrations for enhanced performance.
Short, straight arm for clear, wide-ranging sound
Accurately capturing the audio from the source is the critical first step in delivering true and authentic Hi-Fi sound. The top of the range GT-5000 features a short, straight tonearm designed to deliver greater stiffness, as well as balance of weight and mechanics able to improve traceability. A rigid mechanism of simple construction does not require an internal counterweight.
Heavy 5 kg Aluminum Plate
The GT-5000's heavy 5kg aluminum platter contributes to improved stability and performance.
Exclusive and Heavy Feet
The GT-5000 has been designed with exceptional stability and rigidity characteristics - characteristics which also extend to the unique feet which have been custom stitched for this top of the range model. Heavy but also representative of the elegance and sophistication of the GT-5000, the unique feet ensure high fidelity audio performance.
24-pole 2-phase synchronous AC motor
The GT-5000 is powered by a 24-pole, 2-phase synchronous AC motor that produces a precise sine wave.
Elegant Piano Black Finish
Befitting a top-of-the-line Hi-Fi product, the GT-5000 sports an elegant gloss black finish - the same as Yamaha grand pianos - for a perfect match with the C-5000 pre-amplifier, M power amplifier -5000 and the top of the line NS-5000 loudspeakers.
