Description
Pure musicality with our most advanced streaming platform
Our reference network player is simply the best sound source we have ever developed.
Drawing on decades of digital and analogue design experience, the ND 555 combines our innovative streaming platform with classic Naim analogue technology. It includes a 40-bit SHARC processor with advanced signal processing, a suspended bronze subchassis to isolate critical circuits from vibration, and our best external power supply yet.
Whether you listen to John Bonham's massive groove or John Coltrane's soaring scales, ND 555 will let the music flow with shocking ease and unique involvement. Coupled with 500 Series amplifiers or the Statement, we believe the ND 555 is as close to live music as possible.
Experience a sound that will take your breath away
The ND 555 offers a variety of ways to hear your music with clarity and precision.
A rich audio heritage
ND 555 is the result of over four decades of audio design. From the state-of-the-art streaming module to the powerful and natural analogue stages, every element of this streamer is engineered with our DNA, ensuring the recognizable and captivating Naim sound. The development of the ND 555 has also given us access to new technologies: for the first time we have introduced LVDS (Low Voltage Differential Signaling) into a Naim source. We used LVDS technology because it minimizes time errors due to its speed and minimizes radiation due to its low noise.
Expert craftsmanship
ND 555 is full of innovations from entry to exit. The streaming section uses the latest Naim card including high speed, low noise LVDS technology for digital signal handling. The high speed allows the decoding of all audio signals in high definition up to 32 bit/384 KHz or DSD128. Rather than using the source as the main timer, the new streaming card reverses this and allows our DAC's clock to control the flow of audio data. The data is fully upsampled to an incredible 40 bit and then sent to an R2R DAC.
Naim's renowned DR technology, used throughout our range of amplifiers and power supplies, is used for the first time in a networked player, delivering ultra-pure DC voltage to the ND 555's audio circuitry. The analogue stages use separate components only of the highest level and are suspended on a bronze subframe to minimize microphonic effects.
Absolute control
There are several ways to control the ND 555. The Naim app for iOS and Android gives you complete control of one or more Naim equipment. You can access all your music, including your favorite internet radio, streaming services and playlists, synchronize multiple Naim players for a multiroom system and explore artist discographies and biographies. The app also monitors our Naim Uniti Core server (so you no longer need to use two apps) and allows you to update your system wirelessly with a single click.
For those who prefer a more tactile experience, a premium Zigbee® metal remote control is included. Since it does not require direct alignment with the fixture, it can command the fixture from any position. If you are very close to the unit the front panel has Standby, Play/Pause, Input and Favorites functions, as well as a 5” color display with beautifully detailed album art and track information.
