JBL 220P: 300 mm powered subwoofer with 250 W RMS and 500 W dynamic
Among the powered subwoofers of the Stage series the 220P is the most powerful, as JBL states: a 300 mm woofer, 250 W RMS and a response reaching down to 26 Hz, two hertz below the 250 mm 200P. It fills in the low end of a stereo or multichannel system built around an AV receiver. It is bought as a single unit.
The driver is a 300 mm high-excursion unit with a Polycellulose cone, that is pure pulp stiffened by a proprietary blend of further materials, crossed by ribs. Two tuned reflex ports with a flared profile open on the back of the cabinet, a shape that lowers air speed at the exit and avoids, JBL states, chuffing noises and colouration. The internal power stage is Class D. The grille attaches magnetically; four floor spikes, adjustable from above, fit to the plinth for stability on thick rugs and carpet.
