Pro-Ject The Classic EVO Aluminum Sub-Platter Upgrade

An aluminium sub-platter for The Classic turntables fitted with the standard sub-platter: it brings older decks up to The Classic Evo specification.

The Classic EVO Aluminium Sub-Platter Upgrade: the design

Owners of an early The Classic can fit the same sub-platter used on The Classic Evo. The part is diamond-cut from aluminium to tolerances far tighter than a common sub-platter achieves, and it turns on a stainless steel spindle. The better mechanical precision is there to make the rotational speed more exact.

The second gain comes from weight. The 700 g of the sub-platter raise the overall mass of platter and transmission: noise and unwanted resonances are damped more effectively and the speed wavers less over short intervals, a direct benefit for wow and flutter.
