The five classical elements, from ether and fire to air, water and earth, set to music by Alessandro Quarta.
The 5 Elements: the album
The 5 Elements is a work in six pieces: after La Creazione, each element gets its own chords and motifs, from the stillness of earth in C minor to the unruly force of fire in A minor. Quarta ties water to Otranto, his home town, and ends with ether, the most complex element, in a broad crescendo.
Alessandro Quarta plays solo violin, with Giuseppe Magagnino at the piano and the Solisti Filarmonici Italiani. The recording was made at the Auditorium Giovanni Arvedi in Cremona; this edition dates from 2024.
