A 550-watt integrated amplifier built like separate pre and power stages
M8 Xi combines a preamplifier and two internal monoblocks to deliver 2x550 W, with analogue and digital inputs.
M8 Xi is for systems where loudspeakers, room or required level make drive the central problem. Its 550 W per channel into 8 ohms comes from a dual-mono architecture treating the unit as a preamplifier and two power amplifiers in one chassis. Three RCA, one XLR and four digital inputs cover sources; phono and streaming are external. It is simpler than an M8s PRE/500S system while retaining separate-component scale.

For speakers and rooms beyond ordinary scale
M8 Xi makes sense with large towers, panels, severe impedance minima or substantial listening distances. Unused power becomes peak headroom and reduces compression, but does not automatically improve a small system. Weight, heat, mains supply and loudspeaker limits matter; a volume mistake has greater consequences here.
Integrated, but separately structured
The pre section controls sources and level while two independent power channels operate like internal monoblocks. This reduces competition between channels and concentrates wiring in one chassis. Listeners wanting physical separation can choose M8s PRE with 500S or 700M; M8 Xi prioritises relative compactness and simplicity.
Service digital inputs, reference external sources
Optical and coaxial connect conventional transports, but no USB or network connection means the digital section is not a modern hub. M8x DAC can feed XLR when USB, DSD or HDMI I2S are required. Phono needs M8x Vinyl or another external stage. Sources can therefore evolve without changing amplification.
Fixed and variable outputs
The variable pre output follows volume and can serve active subwoofers or additional power amplifiers. Fixed output suits recorders or parallel systems with their own level control. Confusing the two risks uncontrolled levels. Internal reserve rarely requires another power amplifier, but the outputs broaden distribution and integration.
When to choose separates
M8s PRE and M8s 500S occupy two chassis and allow independent upgrades; a pair of 700M takes separation to one amplifier per loudspeaker. M8 Xi provides much of that force in one component with fewer cables. It is preferable when simplifying is valuable, not when rack presence and modularity are goals themselves.
