The 9.4-channel centre of Series 2
CINEMA 50 S2 provides nine 110 W channels, six 8K HDMI inputs, HEOS and Audyssey XT32 calibration with optional Dirac Live.
CINEMA 50 S2 is the second generation for 5.1.4 or 7.1.2 systems without extra power amplifiers. It processes up to 11.4 channels, allowing a larger installation later. Six HDMI inputs accept 8K and two outputs include eARC. Series 2 integrates upgraded DACs and retains HEOS for streaming and multiroom use. This is more than an aesthetic revision: it occupies the centre between the stronger CINEMA 40 and seven-channel 60 DAB S2.
Key features
- 9.4 channels at 110 W
- Maximum 11.4-channel processing
- Six 8K HDMI inputs, two outputs with eARC
- Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, Auro-3D and IMAX Enhanced
- Upgraded DACs, HEOS and Audyssey MultEQ XT32
Four heights without an external amplifier
With five ear-level speakers, four overheads and up to four subwoofers, internal amplification completes the system. A 7.1.4 layout needs two external channels. This makes CINEMA 50 S2 suitable for starting complete while preserving an expansion route.
Upgraded DACs: the stated difference
Series 2 uses upgraded converters designed to improve clarity, resolution and dynamic range across connected sources.
Two calibration routes
Audyssey MultEQ XT32 is integrated for response, delay and level management. Dirac Live is supported as an optional upgrade rather than a licence automatically included. Choosing between them follows correct speaker positioning and several measurement points.
HEOS for music and rooms
HEOS brings streaming services, network libraries and compatible products in other rooms together. AirPlay, Bluetooth and Roon Ready widen source choice. The platform does not replace the HDMI matrix: music multiroom and video distribution remain different jobs.
Its place in the family
CINEMA 60 DAB S2 moves to seven channels and 100 W while adding DAB+ radio. CINEMA 40 rises to 125 W and seven HDMI inputs. CINEMA 50 S2 is for four height channels and 11.4 flexibility without the cost of the upper model.
