A DAP that becomes a desktop source with its dedicated cradle

Astell&Kern PD10+Cradle pairs the PD10 player with its dedicated base, turning a high-performance portable system into a source that is easier to integrate with a home audio setup.

PD10 uses AK4498EX DACs in a quad configuration and a HEXA structure that separates digital and analogue processing. The cradle adds connections suited to fixed installations, allowing the user to move from headphones to a Hi-Fi system without repeatedly rewiring the player.

AK4498EX with adaptive dual amplification

PD10 was the first Astell&Kern DAP to use AK4498EX. Its circuit combines four converters with two AK4191EQ digital processors and uses two amplifier paths selected according to the connected load, with the aim of handling both sensitive IEMs and headphones that require greater current more appropriately.

From portable use to the system with the cradle

The included base is what distinguishes this package from the standalone PD10. The player docks into the cradle and becomes a tidier source for an amplifier or desktop system, while remaining easy to remove for portable listening with the same local library and streaming applications.

A hybrid between DAP and home source

PD10+Cradle suits listeners who want one player for both headphones and a main system. SP3000M gives higher priority to compact portability, while KANN ULTRA focuses on raw headphone drive; this package instead centres on continuity between personal listening and a fixed Hi-Fi installation.
