Solid PSS silver interconnect with 72 V DBS system
Angel is an analogue interconnect with solid-core wires in Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS). It pairs silver with FEP Air-Tube insulation, the DBS dielectric biasing system at 72 V and three-layer, carbon-based noise dissipation.
Seven terminations can be chosen, with RCA, 3.5mm mini-jack or five-pin DIN plugs, along with ten lengths.
Conductors and geometry
The solid PSS silver wires remove electrical and magnetic interplay among strands, lower the distortion generated by grain boundaries and make the dissipation of radio-frequency noise linear. The Asymmetrical Double-Balanced layout, engineered for single-ended links, separates the ground route from the shield and lowers ground impedance.
Insulation, DBS and noise reduction
On the positive wires, FEP Air-Tube insulation leaves almost nothing but air around the metal; FEP has an excellent dielectric constant and interferes very little with the signal. The negative wires instead get a deliberately lossier insulation, without air and without FEP, suited to the different task of the return path.
Every insulation is also a dielectric: left unbiased, it absorbs energy and releases it in a non-linear way, delaying the various frequencies by different amounts. The Dielectric-Bias System (DBS) applies a 72 V bias that prevents this effect, and an RF trap keeps radio noise from passing from the DBS elements into the signal wires. The Noise-Dissipation System alternates metal layers with carbon-loaded synthetic ones to stop interference ahead of the ground layer.
Terminations and lengths
The plugs are Pure Red Copper with direct silver plating, no nickel underneath, and cold welding. Lengths: 0.6 m, 1 m, 1.5 m, 2 m, 3 m, 5 m, 8 m, 12 m, 16 m and 20 m.
- RCA to RCA: the classic link between a line-level source and the input of an amplifier or AV receiver.
- 3.5mm to RCA: carries the signal of a device fitted with a mini-jack socket to the RCA inputs of the system.
- 3.5mm male to 3.5mm male: joins two devices that both have a mini-jack socket.
- 3.5mm male to 3.5mm female: works as an extension for a mini-jack lead already in place.
- 3.5mm to 5-Pin DIN: connects a mini-jack socket to equipment fitted with a five-pin DIN socket.
- 5-Pin DIN to 5-Pin DIN: for electronics that use the DIN socket at both ends.
- 5-Pin DIN to RCA: links one component with a DIN socket to another with RCA sockets.
