Power cable for source components with solid PSS silver conductors
Dragon Constant-Current is the Dragon mains cable dedicated to audio and video source components, meaning equipment whose current draw is constant, or "fixed". Unlike the models that alternate silver and copper, here the conductors are solid Perfect-Surface Silver, combined with ZERO-Tech and RF/ND-Tech.
The cable is sold individually, with a European Schuko plug at the wall end and a choice of IEC connector at the equipment end.
Conductors and geometry
Solid-core conductors avoid the electrical and magnetic interaction that arises between the strands of a conventional cable. Solid Perfect-Surface Silver (PSS) keeps the distortion due to the metal's grain boundaries to a minimum and promotes linear dissipation of radio-frequency noise. With ZERO-Tech the cable joins low DC resistance to an absence of characteristic impedance: the current transients demanded by the signal reach the component without being restricted or compressed.
Noise reduction
The ground conductor, needed for safety, also behaves like an antenna: the RF noise it collects sidesteps the power supply and couples straight into the system's most sensitive audio and video circuits. RF/ND-Tech reduces this distortion over a very broad band of radio frequencies, with a phase-cancelling common-mode network and proprietary dielectric materials that add linear differential filtering. The conductors are direction-controlled: drawn metal has an asymmetrical, hence directional, grain structure, and the cable is oriented so that noise drains away from the points where it would create distortion. Arrows on the connectors show which way to connect it.
Terminations and lengths
Three IEC connectors are offered at the equipment end: C13, the format most widely found on electronics; C15, the notched variant for components fitted with the matching inlet; C19, the larger format for components with a C20 inlet. Lengths are 1 m, 2 m and 3 m.
