PSC+ copper interconnect with air insulation and carbon shielding
Sydney is an analogue interconnect with solid-core wires in Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+), Polyethylene Air-Tube insulation and a three-layer, carbon-based noise dissipation system. The pure purple copper terminations carry direct silver plating and are cold-welded.
It can be ordered with RCA, 3.5mm mini-jack or five-pin DIN plugs, in ten lengths.
Conductors and geometry
The solid PSC+ copper wire avoids electrical and magnetic interplay among strands, lowers the distortion due to grain boundaries and makes the dissipation of radio-frequency noise more linear. The Asymmetrical Double-Balanced layout is meant for single-ended links: ground and shield do not share one route and the ground shows a lower impedance, which helps quieter operation.
Insulation and noise reduction
Both conductors are insulated with air-filled polyethylene tubes (Polyethylene Air-Tube): contact between metal and insulation is minimal, little energy is absorbed and the cable geometry stays stable.
The Noise-Dissipation System (NDS) alternates layers of metal with layers of carbon-loaded synthetic material. Together they absorb and reflect the bulk of radio interference ahead of the grounded layer, so noise does not alter the ground reference of the electronics.
Terminations and lengths
The Pure Purple Copper plugs are silver-plated straight onto the copper, with no nickel layer in between, and joined to the cable cold, with no solder. Lengths: 0.6 m, 1 m, 1.5 m, 2 m, 3 m, 5 m, 8 m, 12 m, 16 m and 20 m.
- RCA to RCA: the classic link between a line-level source and the input of an amplifier or AV receiver.
- 3.5mm to RCA: carries the signal of a device fitted with a mini-jack socket to the RCA inputs of the system.
- 3.5mm male to 3.5mm male: joins two devices that both have a mini-jack socket.
- 3.5mm to 5-Pin DIN: connects a mini-jack socket to equipment fitted with a five-pin DIN socket.
- 5-Pin DIN to 5-Pin DIN: for electronics that use the DIN socket at both ends.
- 5-Pin DIN to RCA: links one component with a DIN socket to another with RCA sockets.
