100 W stereo receiver with DAB+ and FM radio
The Cambridge Audio AXR100D brings together a stereo amplifier with 100 W per channel into 8 ohms and a DAB+ and FM digital tuner in a single unit. It is made for people who listen to music from different sources, from radio to turntable, from television to smartphone, and want to run them all from one box.
The tuner stores up to 40 stations for instant recall; the white LED dot matrix display shows the station name and track information. The FM/DAB antenna is supplied.
Turntable, digital sources and Bluetooth
The built-in phono stage for moving magnet (MM) cartridges lets a turntable be connected directly, with no external preamplifier. There are also three RCA line inputs and a pair of recording outputs.
On the digital side the AXR100D offers one coaxial input and two TOSLINK optical inputs, which accept PCM signals from 16 to 24 bit at sampling rates from 32 to 192 kHz. Bluetooth 5.0 (A2DP and AVRCP profiles, SBC codec) receives music wirelessly from smartphones, tablets and computers.
Two pairs of speakers and a subwoofer output
There are two sets of speaker outputs, so a second room can be covered too, and a dedicated subwoofer output (second-order filter at 200 Hz, level following the volume setting). Independent bass and treble controls, with a range of ±10 dB at 100 Hz and 20 kHz, tailor the response to the speakers, the room and the listener's taste.
The stated figures: total harmonic distortion below 0.01% at 1 kHz (at 80% of rated power), frequency response from 5 Hz to 50 kHz within -1 dB, signal-to-noise ratio above 82 dB referred to 1 W. Maximum power consumption is 550 W, standby consumption below 0.5 W.
The classic AX Series format
The AXR100D shares the minimalist look of the AX Series and the classic 430 mm width, so it sits easily alongside other hi-fi components. It measures 110 x 430 x 340 mm (height, width, depth) and weighs 8.1 kg; the finish is Lunar Grey.
The box includes the remote control with two AAA batteries, the power cable and the FM/DAB antenna.
