Pair of active streaming speakers at the top of the L/R series
The Cambridge Audio L/R X is the most advanced pair of active stereo speakers in the L/R series: in a compact cabinet it delivers the power, dynamics and authority of a floorstanding system, with no external amplifier required. It is voiced for larger spaces, with controls to tailor the sound to the room. The price is for the pair.
Power output is 2 x 400 W, 800 W in total. Each speaker measures 200 x 330 x 260 mm (width, height, depth) and weighs 10.4 kg.
28 mm tweeter, twin woofers and bass down to 35 Hz
The 28 mm tweeter, designed by Cambridge Audio, has a dual-radius aluminium dome, a dedicated waveguide, a phase ring and a rear chamber engineered for detail and a very wide soundstage. Two 5-inch woofers, one front-facing and one hidden and firing downwards, work with two 6-inch side-mounted passive radiators.
Frequency response runs from 35 Hz to 24 kHz (+/-3 dB): deep, articulate bass without a separate subwoofer, which can still be connected to the dedicated RCA output. The 64-bit digital processing, digital crossovers, DynamEQ, room optimisation tools and advanced speaker protection keep balance and control even at high volume.
StreamMagic Gen 4, WiSA and connections
The StreamMagic Gen 4 platform gives access to Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music, internet radio and UPnP; L/R X is Roon Ready and works with Google Cast and AirPlay 2, including multiroom. Networking is dual-band Wi-Fi 5 or Ethernet, Bluetooth supports the SBC and AAC codecs, and the speakers are Hi-Res Audio certified.
The two speakers link to each other wirelessly with WiSA HT, at 24-bit/96 kHz, or with the supplied USB-C cable. Inputs are HDMI eARC, MM phono, an analogue RCA pair (Aux), optical TOSLINK, USB-C audio and USB-A for storage media; supported formats include ALAC, WAV, FLAC, AIFF and DSD up to DSD256.
Finishes and accessories
L/R X is available in six finishes: black, white, blue, green, orange and walnut. The floating base and the LED light under the cabinet complete the design.
The box contains the two speakers, the mains cable, the 5 m USB-C cable (black) for linking the two speakers, the Bluetooth LE remote control and the safety manual.
