Ultra-compact 200 W active subwoofer
The Cambridge Audio MSX Sub 200 adds clean, controlled low frequencies to a system, whether the aim is depth for music or impact for film soundtracks. It is designed to partner the MSX10 and MSX20 satellite speakers, with which it forms a balanced, full-range system, but it also slots easily into an existing system that needs precise low-end support.
The cabinet measures 210 x 220 x 232 mm (width, height, depth) and weighs 5.0 kg: it sits beside furniture, in a corner or out of sight, without dominating the room. It is available in matte black or matte white, with a finish designed to match Cambridge Audio's L/R active speakers.
One active driver and two passive radiators
The dedicated 200 W amplifier provides consistent, controlled output at every listening level. It drives a 6.5-inch (16.5 cm) active driver working alongside two passive radiators of the same diameter: an arrangement that moves more air and extends the low-frequency response without the distortion typical of traditional reflex ports.
The stated frequency response runs from 36 Hz (at -6 dB) to 200 Hz. Integrated digital signal processing (DSP) manages output and frequency response and keeps the bass stable and clear even as the volume rises and during the most dynamic passages.
Adjustments and connections
To match it to the speakers and the room there is an active crossover, variable from 50 to 200 Hz, and a phase control, variable from 0 to 180°. Automatic power-on and standby mean it never has to be switched on and off by hand.
The signal comes in through a low-level input on a pair of RCA sockets; a pair of RCA pass-through outputs makes it available to another component. The box includes the power cable, the safety guide, the quick start guide and the registration card.
For cinema and for music
With films and TV series the Sub 200 adds depth and impact to action scenes while keeping dialogue clear and balanced. With music it gives body and rhythm to bass lines, for fuller, tighter and more involving listening.
In keeping with Cambridge Audio tradition, it is tuned by ear with musicality as the priority: bass that serves the performance rather than overpowering it.
