Analogue interconnect built on solid LGC copper conductors
Tower is an analogue interconnect suited to turntables, TVs, AV receivers, soundbars and other sources. It combines solid-core Long-Grain Copper wires, foamed polyethylene insulation and a shield made of metal layers, finished with gold-plated plugs that are cold-welded in place.
Four terminations and ten lengths are offered, enough to cover both a short hop inside the rack and a long run to another corner of the room.
Conductors and geometry
Long-Grain Copper (LGC) holds fewer oxides, fewer impurities and fewer grain boundaries than ordinary OFHC copper. Each conductor is a single solid wire rather than a bundle: this removes the interaction between strands, one of the main causes of distortion. The Asymmetrical Double-Balanced layout, conceived for single-ended links, keeps the ground conductor apart from the shield and lowers impedance on the ground side.
Insulation and noise reduction
The insulation is foamed polyethylene (Foamed-PE): the large amount of air trapped inside limits the energy the material soaks up and later gives back as distortion.
The Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation system adds metal layers that absorb and reflect a good share of radio-frequency interference before it gets to the grounded shield, so the ground reference of the equipment stays cleaner.
Terminations and lengths
The plugs are gold-plated and fitted by cold welding, a high-pressure process that does without solder. Lengths: 0.6 m, 1 m, 1.5 m, 2 m, 3 m, 5 m, 8 m, 12 m, 16 m and 20 m.
- RCA to RCA: the classic link between a line-level source and the input of an amplifier or AV receiver.
- 3.5mm to RCA: carries the signal of a device fitted with a mini-jack socket to the RCA inputs of the system.
- 3.5mm male to 3.5mm male: joins two devices that both have a mini-jack socket.
- 3.5mm male to 3.5mm female: works as an extension for a mini-jack lead already in place.
