AudioQuest Pearl Optical Cables

Toslink optical cable with low-dispersion fiber

Pearl Optical is a digital fiber-optic cable for linking sources and audio components that have a Toslink socket. Its plug suits the majority of Toslink sockets, so hooking it up is straightforward.

Fiber and dispersion

Inside an optical cable, part of the light bounces off the fiber walls, travels further and turns up late. That delay narrows the bandwidth and makes decoding of the digital signal less accurate. The fiber in Pearl is optimized to scatter little light: lower dispersion means lower distortion in the final analog signal.
