Pair of RCA or XLR interconnects in PSC copper with Triple-Balanced geometry
Red River is an analogue interconnect for linking sources, amplifiers and receivers, terminated with either RCA or XLR plugs. Sold as a pair, right channel and left channel, it has solid-core wires in Perfect-Surface Copper (PSC) and a three-conductor geometry.
The outer finish is black and red.
Conductors and geometry
PSC is a high-purity copper with low oxide content, whose surface is protected all through the drawing process so that it stays smooth and soft: the outcome is a low-distortion conductor. Solid wires avoid electrical and magnetic interplay among strands. With Direction-Controlled technology the wires are oriented so as to drain induced noise away from critical points; arrows on the plugs show the correct direction.
The Triple-Balanced geometry adds a conductor dedicated to the ground reference, so the shield never has to act as a conductor. Positive and negative signals travel along two routes of equal quality, with RCA plugs just as with XLR.
Insulation and noise reduction
Hard-Cell Foam insulation is a rigid foam with pockets of nitrogen, a gas that, as air does, absorbs no energy. Its rigidity holds the wires at a constant spacing over the full length and stabilises impedance. In the Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation system, metal layers cut radio and electromagnetic interference before it gets to the ground plane of the equipment.
Terminations and lengths
The gold-plated plugs are cold-welded, by pressure and with no solder. Lengths of the pair: 0.5 m, 0.75 m, 1 m, 1.5 m, 2 m, 3 m, 4 m, 5 m and 6 m.
- RCA: for single-ended links between sources, preamplifiers, amplifiers and receivers.
- XLR: for electronics fitted with XLR inputs and outputs.
