Denon's reference integrated amplifier for analogue and digital audio
The PMA-3000NE combines 80W per channel, Ultra AL32 Processing, USB-DAC and MM/MC phono with construction in Shirakawa.
The PMA-3000NE is the family flagship. Its 80W into 8 ohms and 160W into 4 ohms do not alone explain the step beyond the 1700NE. Power supply, chassis, volume control and circuit layout are developed for greater electrical and mechanical stability. Built at Denon's Shirakawa facility, it combines analogue sources, computers and digital connections in one reference integrated amplifier.
Key features
- 80W per channel into 8 ohms and 160W into 4 ohms
- High-current push-pull output stage for two channels
- USB-B up to 384kHz/32-bit and DSD 11.2MHz
- Seventh-generation Ultra AL32 Processing
- MM/MC phono stage and Analogue Mode
Role in the system
Digital conversion uses a DAC Master Clock design in which the clock acts as the conversion section's reference. USB-B connects a computer directly, while optical and coaxial accept conventional sources. Ultra AL32 reconstructs PCM waveforms through interpolation and upsampling, and Analogue Mode disables digital sections during analogue listening.
The phono stage accepts MM and MC cartridges, allowing a turntable to connect without another component. Greater current capability helps preserve control with less straightforward loads, although matching must still consider sensitivity, impedance and room size. HEOS is not built in, so streaming requires a source such as the DNP-2000NE.
Dual-mono construction keeps the two channel paths symmetrical and uses selected components in the analogue section. High-precision volume control works with a rigid chassis and feet developed to reduce external vibration. These choices do not increase the feature count; they aim to provide a more stable electrical reference across silence, fine dynamics and current demand.
Analogue connectivity includes a balanced source input, useful in high-level systems with longer cables or matching components. Pre-outs allow other stages to be integrated, although the design is intended to drive a loudspeaker pair directly. Weight and heat dissipation require stable, ventilated furniture suitable for the amplifier's dimensions.
Compared with the PMA-1700NE, the 3000NE does not pursue a longer feature list. It strengthens the elements that determine amplification quality, from structure to signal handling. It is intended for systems in which the amplifier remains the stable centre and sources are selected separately, including the matching DCD-3000NE SACD player.
