The Paradigm Premier 600C is a large-format three-way centre speaker: six drive units, including two 165 mm woofers and two passive radiators of the same diameter, in a cabinet 90.8 cm wide for home cinema systems.
Premier 600C: six drive units, three ways
The Premier 600C has six drive units. Four of them are active: a 25 mm X-PAL dome tweeter with ferrofluid, a 102 mm midrange with an anodised aluminium X-PAL cone and two 165 mm woofers in carbon-filled polypropylene, on ART surrounds. The remaining two are 165 mm passive radiators, built like the woofers: they receive no signal and do the job that falls to the port in a conventional reflex design.
Tweeter and midrange have the perforated PPA lens, and the second-order electro-acoustic filters divide at 700 Hz and 2.5 kHz. On axis the quoted response is 60 Hz - 25 kHz within ±3 dB, at 30° off axis 60 Hz - 20 kHz; bass extension to the DIN standard is 40 Hz. Sensitivity, at 94 dB in room and 91 dB anechoic, is high: a few watts are enough for substantial listening levels.
The impedance suits 8 ohm outputs, recommended amplifiers range from 15 to 180 W and maximum input power is 120 W. The size needs considering before choosing the TV furniture: 19.7 cm high, 90.8 cm wide and 34.2 cm deep, at 19.5 kg. No stand is supplied. More than one finish is offered.
