The Q Acoustics M20 HD is a system of powered bookshelf speakers: built-in Class D amplification, aptX HD Bluetooth 5.0 plus USB, optical and analogue inputs, for music, TV and gaming with no other boxes. It is supplied as a pair.
M20 HD: amplification, aptX HD Bluetooth and digital inputs
The M20 HD is a complete system contained in two speakers: one houses the amplification and inputs, the other is passive and connects to the first with the cable supplied. Its Class D amplifiers deliver 32 W continuous per channel, with 65 W peak. A switch sets whether the powered speaker is the left or right channel, so it can go on the side nearest the mains socket, and an equalisation selector tells the DSP whether the speakers are tucked into a corner, placed by a wall or standing clear of both, to adjust the bass accordingly.
Over Bluetooth 5.0 the system accepts the aptX HD, aptX Low Latency, aptX, AAC and SBC codecs, with audio up to 24-bit/48 kHz from a phone, tablet or computer. The USB input for a computer and the optical input go up to 24-bit/192 kHz; for analogue sources there are a set of RCA sockets and a 3.5 mm socket at line level. That means a television, console, CD player, set-top box or a turntable with a built-in preamplifier can all be connected. A remote control is included.
Each speaker is a two-way reflex design with a 125 mm mid/bass driver and a decoupled 22 mm tweeter that gives wide, even dispersion. The cabinet uses P2P (Point to Point) internal braces, which stiffen the panels and make the stereo image precise. Stated response is 55 Hz-22 kHz with the crossover at 2.4 kHz. Each speaker measures 27.9 x 17 x 29.6 cm; the powered one weighs 5.5 kg, the passive one 5.1 kg. The Q FS50 and Q FS75 stands and the Q WB50 bracket are compatible.
