Two compact two-way sealed satellites supplied as a pair, for wall fixing or stand mounting: they serve as the left and right channels of a stereo or home cinema system rounded off by a subwoofer.
Cinema 100 2.0 System: the design
The Cinema 100 is a sealed satellite with two drive units, housed in a mineral-loaded polymer cabinet that stands 21.3 cm tall and weighs 1.8 kg. Its small size lets it go where a conventional speaker will not fit, either on a stand or fixed straight to the wall. The 2.0 System brings two of these satellites together: the left and right channels of a stereo set-up, or the starting point for a multichannel one.
High frequencies come from a 25 mm S-PAL dome, which is satin-anodised pure aluminium, driven by neodymium magnets and cooled with ferrofluid so that it can take more power. A metal mesh protects the dome, while the WaveGuide broadens and evens out its dispersion. The 102 mm bass/midrange unit uses a polypropylene cone loaded with minerals, a 25 mm voice coil built to cope with high temperatures and oversized ferrite magnets. The two drivers cross over at 1.8 kHz through a second-order filter.
On-axis response is quoted within ±2 dB between 125 Hz and 20 kHz, and it keeps to that tolerance up to 15 kHz at 30° off axis, so the sound changes little for listeners sitting away from the centre. Bass reaches down to 85 Hz (DIN): for films and music with deep bass the natural partner is a subwoofer such as the Cinema Sub in this range. With 88 dB in-room sensitivity and an 8 ohm compatible load, amplifiers rated between 15 and 100 W are enough.
