CS 718Q: the design
The CS 718Q revives Dual's 7 Series, the line of the brand's reference turntables. Its direct-drive motor uses ironless coils, which pass no vibration to the platter, and is shielded twice against magnetic fields; speed is held by quartz control.
The tonearm has an aluminium and carbon tube, is set in height with a rotary ring and carries a headshell with azimuth adjustment; tracking force is set by a spiral spring. At the end of a side the arm lifts by itself and the motor stops, a function you can switch off. It connects through RCA or XLR outputs to a phono input: no cartridge is included.
