Streamer, DAC, CD player and analogue preamplifier
The Eversolo DMP-A8 Master Gen 2 adds to the DMP-A8 Gen 2 formula — network streamer, DAC and analogue preamplifier — a built-in CD player, with a reading system developed by Eversolo for audio use and high-precision error correction, for playing discs and ripping them to the library. The aluminium chassis measures 388 × 265 × 98.5 mm and houses an 8.6" LCD touchscreen, an octa-core processor, 8 GB of DDR5 memory and 64 GB of storage; on the underside an M.2 NVMe slot takes an SSD of up to 8 TB (not included).
AKM conversion, OCXO clock and external clock input
Conversion is handled by the AKM AK4499EXEQ + AK4191EQ pair, with OPA1612 operational amplifiers. The timing reference is an oven-controlled, low phase-noise OCXO clock, with declared jitter below 50 fs, and a 10 MHz external clock input lets you connect a master clock. Volume is adjusted in the analogue domain by an R-2R resistor ladder, with no digital attenuation, and the preamplifier stage is fully balanced. The power supply is dual, with separate linear and digital sections, and the internal architecture provides electrical isolation from the noise of connected devices. The declared figures on the XLR output are THD+N 0.000075% and a signal-to-noise ratio above 129 dB; decoding reaches DSD512 and PCM 768 kHz / 32 bit.
Inputs, outputs and room correction
The inputs include HDMI ARC/eARC for the TV, USB-B, optical, coaxial, Bluetooth 5.4 and a pair of analogue XLR and RCA inputs. On the output side there are preamplified XLR and RCA analogue outputs, a dedicated subwoofer output, and USB Audio, IIS, AES/EBU, optical and coaxial digital outputs. Networking is via Gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6 or the SFP port for optical fibre (module not included). Spotify Connect Lossless, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect and DLNA are supported, together with built-in services such as TIDAL, Qobuz, Amazon Music and Apple Music. evotune™ PRO room correction and the 20-band parametric equaliser adapt the response to the room. A Bluetooth and infrared remote control is supplied.
