Fyne Audio F1-5

Fyne Audio F1-5: 2-way standmount loudspeaker with a 125 mm IsoFlare driver

The F1-5 is the compact bookshelf model of the F1 range: it carries the technology of the bigger F1-8 over into a smaller enclosure. Sold as a pair.

Built by hand, the cabinet rests on a compact plinth of machined aluminium, inside which sits the BassTrax diffuser for the low frequencies. The 125 mm IsoFlare unit, fitted with a FyneFlute rubber surround, works together with a compression tweeter that uses a 19 mm magnesium dome: the two form a time-aligned point source with isotropic radiation over the whole audio band. Every speaker is finished by hand at the Fyne Audio factory in the UK, with real walnut veneer and a burr walnut inlay.

Technical data

The crossover is a low-loss passive design, single wired and given Deep Cryogenic Treatment: second-order low-pass section, first-order high-pass section, crossover point at 1.9 kHz. Power handling is 50 watts RMS continuous and 200 watts peak. Dimensions (height x width x depth) are 321 x 186 x 289 mm and net weight is 5.7 kg: both figures refer to a single speaker. The official data sheet places the S-Trax position 38 mm from the front edge of the cabinet.

Finishes

The F1-5 is on sale in the Walnut Piano Gloss finish.
