Juke Box E1 is a belt-driven turntable that houses a phono stage, a Bluetooth receiver and a 2 x 50 W amplifier in one chassis. Its 8.6-inch aluminium arm carries an Ortofon OM 5E set up at the factory, so two loudspeakers are all you need to add.
Juke Box E1: what is inside
The thinking here is to remove everything that normally makes a first vinyl system awkward. Phono stage, line preamplifier and power amplifier are already on board, and the deck leaves its packaging with tracking force and anti-skating set for the Ortofon OM 5E fitted at the factory. Wire the loudspeakers to the terminals, plug in the mains and put a record on: nothing has to be calibrated before the first listen.
The mechanical side has been revised compared with the previous generation. The 8.6-inch arm has a fresh design and a new headshell, and it pivots on sapphire bearings. The 300 mm platter is moulded in anti-resonant ABS polymer, topped by a felt mat, and turns on a stainless steel spindle running in a bronze bush. The DC motor is damped, drives the platter through a silicone belt, and switching from 33 to 45 rpm is done electronically. Dedicated feet decouple the chassis from the furniture beneath.
Beyond records, Juke Box E1 accepts music over Bluetooth and has one analogue line input for an external source. Round the back, on gold-plated sockets, there are also a fixed-level line output, which carries the turntable signal alone, and a phono output. A high-contrast display sits on the top panel and an infrared remote handset is supplied. The carton also holds the dust cover, an adapter for 7-inch singles, the power supply, an Allen key, a stylus pressure gauge and gloves. It is offered in several finishes.
