Isolation stand for subwoofers
IsoAcoustics Aperta Sub is an isolation stand to be placed under the subwoofer: a sculpted aluminium frame with the patented IsoAcoustics isolators built in. It decouples the subwoofer from the supporting surface and prevents the physical transfer of energy that excites the floor, makes the room rattle and disturbs the neighbours.
Isolation works in the other direction too: the vibrations of the subwoofer are not reflected off the supporting surface and conducted back up into the cabinet. With these reflections under control, the bass loses its muddy smear and gains clarity and definition. IsoAcoustics recommends the Aperta Sub for home theatre and hi-fi, especially for those who live in apartments.
Low profile, no assembly
The series has a low-profile design and is compatible with front-firing and side-firing subwoofers. The shape of the frame allows it to sit directly under the cabinet without interfering with the original feet of the subwoofer. It comes in the box ready for use: there is nothing to assemble, it is simply placed under the subwoofer.
To choose, compare the dimensions of the stand with the flat bottom of the subwoofer, which should be the same size as the stand or larger; a few centimetres of overhang on each side are acceptable. The Aperta Sub has no height or tilt adjustment, which a subwoofer does not need, and is available in black only.
Orientation and use on carpet
The isolators are directional: they resist lateral deflection and oscillation and should be aligned with the movement of the driver. The logo should therefore face forward, in the same direction as the driver; those who prefer not to see it can turn the stand through 180°. With side-firing subwoofers the stand works best turned sideways, with the isolators aligned with the driver.
Each box includes four Carpet Discs for use on thick carpet: they create a strong connection with the floor beneath the pile and give the stand a solid foundation. The IsoAcoustics isolation technology has been tested at the National Research Council of Canada.
Aperta Sub and Aperta Sub XL
There are two models, chosen by the weight and footprint of the subwoofer. The Aperta Sub XL brings the same design to larger, heavier subwoofers. Both are sold as a single piece.
- Aperta Sub: single piece; subwoofers up to 36.3 kg (80 lb); 265 × 290 × 33 mm (width × depth × height); 1 Aperta Sub and 4 Carpet Discs.
- Aperta Sub XL: single piece; subwoofers up to 72.6 kg (160 lb); 368 × 406 × 37 mm; 1 Aperta Sub XL and 4 Carpet Discs.
