Remarkable bass from concealed spaces
JL Audio Fathom IWSv2-SYS-113 is an in-wall subwoofer system made up of one sealed enclosure with a 13.5-inch driver and an SAv2 amplifier rated at 1000 W RMS (short-term).
The IWSv2 system brings Fathom subwoofer technology to hidden installation: the enclosure sits inside the wall and only the grille, which can be painted, stays visible. The amplifier is separate, mounts in a rack and is tuned specifically for the system. The stated frequency response runs from 26 to 101 Hz, within ±1.5 dB in anechoic conditions.

Floating-mount enclosure
The enclosure has a patented floating mount, which keeps wall excitation to a minimum, and a structure designed to be rigid despite a very low profile and thin walls. It installs in standard bays between 2×4 or 2×6 inch studs. Every enclosure comes with a fine steel-mesh grille that can be painted and is itself designed to keep vibration under control.
Low-profile driver
The TW5v2 driver offers large cone excursion from a minimal overall depth: it is what makes a 13.5-inch subwoofer inside a wall possible. Its frame with mounting tabs cuts down the footprint, so it fits where a round woofer one size smaller would normally go; DMA modelling looks after motor, suspension and cone.
The SAv2 amplifier and D.A.R.O.
The SAv2 amplifier carries full signal processing, including D.A.R.O. calibration: an internal DSP optimises, automatically, how the subwoofer responds in the room, with a laboratory-grade microphone included. The low-pass is adjustable from 30 to 130 Hz at 12 or 24 dB/octave, phase is variable from 0 to 270° and the E.L.F. trim works at 23 Hz, between -12 and +3 dB. Inputs are RCA and balanced XLR.
Supplied accessories
The system includes the enclosure with the wallboard template already fitted, the mounting bracket, the hanging rod, the adhesive foam gasket, fifty screws, the 13.5-inch driver and the steel-mesh grille; plus the SAv2 amplifier, the power cord and two rack tabs.
