JL Audio M3-10IB: 10-inch marine subwoofer
The M3-10IB is the 10-inch marine subwoofer in the JL Audio M3 series. It is an infinite baffle design, meant to work with no dedicated enclosure. It handles 175 W RMS continuously into 4 ohms.
Three grilles are offered: Classic Gloss White, Sport Gloss White and Sport Gunmetal. Both Sport grilles can also be ordered with built-in RGB LED lighting.

Bass
The woofer is optimised with DMA, the proprietary JL Audio technology that acts on the motor, the suspension and the cone profile to lower distortion, improve transient response and deliver clean, well controlled bass. The result is bass that stands out for clarity, and just as much for smoothness, balance and precision. For the best result it should be matched with a quality amplifier. The M3 series is optimised for medium-power systems.

For system designers: free-air resonance 41.84 Hz, Qts 0.754, Vas 36.53 litres, linear excursion Xmax 10.7 mm, effective piston area 0.0327 square metres, DC resistance 3.957 ohms. Stated sensitivity is 87.23 dB with 1 W at 1 metre.
Reference volumes
The manufacturer also gives data for a sealed box: 56.6 litres net, with a -3 dB point at 42.9 Hz and system resonance at 53.66 Hz. The stated wall thickness is 19 mm.
RGB LED lighting
On the With RGB versions of the Sport grilles the multicolour LEDs are built into the subwoofer. The LEDs run on 10 to 14.4 V DC, draw 108 mA at most at 14.4 V and connect through a four-conductor 22 AWG flying lead.
Installation
Outer diameter is 273 mm and the cutout measures 225 mm; mounting depth is 127 mm. Weight is 5.7 kg. The grille stands 38 mm proud of the panel (40 mm for Sport), the fixing holes lie on a 247 mm circle and the driver displaces 1.47 litres. Terminals are fork type. Like the rest of the series, this model is made to live at sea and to cope with salt water in the long run.
