JL Audio XDM1000/5v2: 5-channel system amplifier, 1000 W
The XDM1000/5v2 is the 5-channel system amplifier, 1000 W in the JL Audio XDM series, powerful and compact amplifiers for boats and cars. On the 4 main channels it delivers 75 W RMS at 4 ohms and 100 W RMS at 2 ohms; on the subwoofer channel 400 W RMS at 4 ohms and 600 W RMS at 2 ohms (figures with a 14.4 V supply).
A single chassis drives the whole system: speakers on the full-range outputs and the subwoofer on the dedicated channel.
Key features
- Main channels: 75 W RMS x 4 at 4 ohms, 100 W RMS x 4 at 2 ohms
- Subwoofer channel: 400 W RMS at 4 ohms, 600 W RMS at 2 ohms
- Frequency response: main channels 12 Hz-22 kHz, subwoofer 10 Hz-1 kHz
- Class D with NexD technology, efficiency above 80 percent
- Differential-balanced inputs with dual-mode filter
- Automatic turn-on in three modes
- Footprint 374 x 180 x 52 mm
NexD technology
Advanced NexD switching takes efficiency above 80 percent: the amplifier draws less current, runs cooler and gives plenty of power reliably from a small chassis that is easy to place on board.
Inputs and turn-on
The dual-mode input filter, exclusive to the series, and the differential-balanced inputs keep noise away. There are three ways to switch on: automatic signal sensing, automatic DC offset sensing, both with a +12 V remote output for other equipment, or the conventional +12 V turn-on wire.
Signal processing
The main channels have a defeatable high-pass filter, the subwoofer channel a defeatable low-pass from 50 to 500 Hz with a 12 or 24 dB per octave slope. The remote level control can act on all channels or on the subwoofer alone. The potentiometers are calibrated and detented. A remote level control, also in a water-resistant version, can be added as a separate accessory.
The XDM series
The series includes full-range stereo amplifiers with 2, 4, 6 and 8 channels, system amplifiers with two or four full-range outputs plus one for the subwoofer, and subwoofer monoblocks. The 6-channel and 8-channel models also exist for 24 V systems. They all share the same height and the same depth: only the width changes.
Protection and build
If temperature climbs too high, the protection circuit lowers power instead of shutting the amplifier down: music carries on even in the toughest conditions. The chassis is powder-coated aluminium, against corrosion, and a sealed safety door shields the controls. The indicated fuse is 80 A, AFS, AGU or MaxiFuse type, and the power and ground cable 4 AWG copper at least. The 12 V model runs on 11 to 14.5 V.
