Square in-wall or in-ceiling speaker with 160 mm Uni-Q® driver
The KEF Ci160.2CS is a square two-way flush-mount speaker from the Ci-C series, designed to offer an ideal introduction to the world of custom installation speakers with KEF's distinctive technologies. Sold singly, it is fitted with a 160 mm (6.5") woofer with a 16 mm (0.6") aluminium dome tweeter with tangerine waveguide in a Uni-Q® configuration, for a frequency response from 52 Hz to 20 kHz. The Ultra-Thin Bezel (UTB) and the paintable magnetic grille ensure discreet aesthetic integration, while the IP64 certification also makes it suitable for environments subject to humidity and UV rays. The optional RIF160S pre-installation frame and the optional RNC160S rear enclosure complete the installation options. The round-format twin of this model is the Ci160.2CR, while the landscape-format variant is the Ci160.2CL.
Uni-Q®: wide, even dispersion throughout the room
The 160 mm Uni-Q® driver places the 16 mm aluminium dome tweeter exactly at the acoustic centre of the woofer, so that the two act as a single point source. KEF's "sit anywhere" technology provides wide, even sound dispersion throughout the room, allowing the listener to hear the sound with full fidelity regardless of their position relative to the speaker — a quality particularly welcome in in-wall and in-ceiling installations, where the geometry of the room does not always favour a privileged listening position.
Shallow mounting depth with a minimum thickness of 3 mm
With a sensitivity of 89 dB, a response that extends down to 52 Hz and compatibility with amplifiers from 10 to 100 W into 8 Ω, the Ci160.2CS is suitable for living rooms, bedrooms, home theatre zones and high-level multiroom distribution. The mounting depth of only 84.5 mm — exceptionally shallow for a 6.5" speaker — and the minimum compatible thickness of just 3 mm allow it to be installed even in structurally very constrained settings, where other speakers in the same class would not find space.
Flexible in-wall or in-ceiling installation with dedicated accessories
With external dimensions of 223 × 223 mm and a depth of 88.7 mm, the Ci160.2CS requires a cut-out of 194 × 194 mm and fits walls and ceilings with a thickness from 3 to 30 mm. The optional RIF160S pre-installation frame simplifies fitting during construction, while the optional RNC160S rear enclosure improves the low-frequency response and the acoustic isolation from the cavity.
