8.1 outdoor audio system built on the LS4T SAT satellite and the LS12T SUB subwoofer
A Sonance system from the Landscape Series in 8.1 configuration, sold as one single item: it brings together the LS4T SAT satellite, the LS12T SUB subwoofer and the SONAMP DSP 2-750 MKIII amplifier in its INT (international) version.
Satellite and subwoofer are both built from a composite moulded in colour, chosen so that it lasts over time and blends into the landscape, and they work together as a scalable system that covers the outdoor space evenly. Each speaker includes an SLCT (Sonance Laminated Core Transformer) whose taps can be adjusted.
Key features
- LS4T SAT satellite: 1" (25 mm) tweeter fitted with a polyurethane dome and 4.5" (114 mm) woofer whose cone is polypropylene
- Satellite frequency response from 75 Hz to 20 kHz, sensitivity of 88 dB and conical dispersion of 120 degrees
- LS12T SUB subwoofer: long-excursion 12" (305 mm) woofer and a Laminar Flow Port
- Subwoofer frequency response from 22 Hz to 100 Hz and sensitivity of 91 dB
- IP66 protection rating for both satellite and subwoofer
- Class D amplifier with DSP on board, 500 W into 8 ohms with both channels driven
System composition
The 8.1 system is made up of the LS4T SAT satellite, the LS12T SUB subwoofer and the SONAMP DSP 2-750 MKIII amplifier in its INT version. The satellite transformer provides 40 W, 20 W and 10 W taps on 70 V and 100 V lines and a 5 W tap on 70 V lines only; the subwoofer transformer provides 300 W, 150 W and 75 W taps, plus a 38 W one on 70 V lines only.
Amplifier
The SONAMP DSP 2-750 MKIII processes the signal with a DAC working at 24 bit/96 kHz and relies on Sonance DSP to optimise how the speakers perform. It is controlled over IP or IR through SonARC v2, takes up 2U in a rack and ships with rack ears plus feet that can be removed. The two channels can be bridged when more power is needed and the terminal blocks take speaker cable as thick as 12 AWG. The unit included in the system is the INT (international) version.
Installation
The satellite has an NPS mounting thread and a pivoting knuckle, which allows its angle and position to be set accurately. The subwoofer is designed to be buried upright and is resistant to UV rays.
