The DCD-1700NE plays CD, SACD and data discs with an S.V.H. mechanism, Advanced AL32 Processing Plus and DAC Master Clock design.
The DCD-1700NE changes category from the 600NE and 900NE by introducing SACD playback and Denon's proprietary S.V.H. mechanism. It also plays high-resolution files recorded on DVD-R/RW, including DSD. Advanced AL32 Processing Plus and dedicated clocking handle conversion, while more substantial construction limits vibration and interference.

Role in the system
Broad physical-library playback is its main purpose: one chassis handles conventional CDs, SACDs and high-resolution compilations on disc. Digital outputs send compatible signals to an external DAC, while SACD uses the internal analogue path. Pure Direct reduces ancillary activity during listening.
The DCD-3000NE retains the same core media but advances through a four-section DAC, seventh-generation Ultra AL32, clocking and component quality. The DCD-1700NE is therefore the balanced choice for genuine SACD requirements without entering reference-series construction.
The playback path separates mechanical work from signal processing, while internal layout reduces power-supply influence on audio sections. The player has no streaming or digital inputs for external sources; its purpose is to extract and convert disc content. A connected system therefore requires a dedicated streamer alongside it.
The mechanism reads the disc and the internal converter produces an analogue signal for the amplifier. There is no volume control, so it does not replace a pre-amplifier. Its place in the chain is therefore clear: a dedicated source connected to a line input on a PMA or another compatible component.
