The CD player that becomes a digital-source hub
M6s CD combines a CD mechanism, 32-bit/192kHz DAC, five digital inputs and RCA/XLR outputs.
M6s CD is for listeners retaining a disc collection while wanting the same conversion stage for computer, streamer and television. Two optical, two coaxial and USB-B inputs join the mechanism, turning the player into a digital hub. Dual-differential Delta-Sigma conversion with eight-times oversampling feeds RCA and balanced XLR outputs; optical and coaxial outputs can also send CD data to an external DAC.
Key features
- CD player and 32-bit/192kHz DAC
- Dual-differential Delta-Sigma conversion
- Eight-times oversampling
- Two optical, two coaxial and USB-B inputs
- RCA/XLR analogue and optical/coaxial digital outputs
- 12 V trigger, black or silver finish
One converter for several sources
Computers and streamers may use different interfaces, but sharing one DAC reduces variation from their analogue stages. M6s CD receives everything digitally and supplies line output to a preamplifier or integrated amplifier. It has no network connection or app, so streaming still needs a transport, but replacing that transport does not alter the rest of the chain.
Complete CD player or transport
Connected through RCA or XLR, it uses its own converter. Through optical or coaxial it sends disc data to a separate DAC, useful when the system already has superior conversion. Both routes protect the investment in the mechanism and allow conversion location to be chosen without duplicating the physical collection.
Why step up from M3s CD
M6s CD adds balanced output, more digital inputs and construction suited to M6 systems. It is appropriate when the player must feed an XLR preamplifier, longer cables or numerous sources; M3s CD remains sufficient in a simpler RCA system. The trigger supports coordinated power with compatible electronics.
