Inheriting many of the sound quality characteristics of components for high-end CD players, the CD-S303 player delivers audio that satisfies music enthusiasts. In addition to CDs, it also offers high-quality playback of music files stored on USB memory devices via a front-panel USB port.
Pure Direct for a short and direct signal path
The CD-S303 offers Pure Direct, which is the popular feature also included in Yamaha amplifiers and receivers. Pressing the button on the front panel or remote control mutes the digital audio output and turns off the display. This ensures the lowest possible noise interference and thus the highest sound quality of the analog audio output.
Extremely sophisticated circuitry and layout
Yamaha engineers spent a lot of time and effort designing the overall internal layout of components and circuit boards, a factor that significantly affects sound quality. As a result, the power supplies for the motor drive, display and USB sections as well as the digital and analog sections are individually isolated, eliminating electromagnetic interference between them. To achieve an ideal weight balance to ensure stable performance, the drive mechanism is placed in the center of the unit.
Short signal path
The highly logical and symmetrical internal layout of components and printed circuit boards is designed to keep the signal paths on each board as short as possible. This purposeful design also keeps the paths between the different sections straight and short, minimizing the possibility of signal loss or interference, which is not easy to achieve.
Perfectly compatible and high quality components
Each of the individual building blocks of a CD player affects the sound quality, which is why Yamaha puts great effort into the selection and matching of components and materials. A high-quality acoustic condenser, a new high-gain bandwidth, low-noise op amp, and the use of damping material under the transformer and around the interconnect cables are just a few examples of Yamaha's commitment to deliver great sound quality. In short, the CD-S303's level of internal sophistication is generally found on much more expensive models.
High performance D/A converter
Utilizing a 192kHz/24-bit DAC, the high-performance D/A conversion system takes full advantage of digital technology perfected by Yamaha over many years, ensuring excellent conversion accuracy, S/N ratio, and dynamic range.
Laser pickup with floating mechanism
The laser pickup is isolated to a floating mechanism, so its smooth operation cannot be affected by vibration.
Smart digital servos
Conventional servo circuits cannot fully overcome errors caused by a warped disk, dust and other defects. This system uses a reliable DSP (Digital Signal Processor) unique to CDs to monitor the signal, adjust pickup tracking and focus, as well as spindle motor speed, to compensate for any problems.
Listen to your music in MP3, WMA, LPCM, AAC and FLAC format
The front panel USB port gives you an easy way to listen to high quality audio from MP3, WMA, LPCM, AAC or FLAC digital music files stored on USB memory devices. You can also play files recorded on CD-R/RW discs.
3-way CD-Text display
The CD player display shows information about the currently playing CD. The 3-way CD-Text display shows album title, artist name and song title.
Program Play (Audio CDs only)
It's extremely easy to program the songs you want to hear in any order. You can cancel the program at any time with just one touch.
