Lyngdorf CD-2

Lyngdorf CD-2: CD player with Wolfson converter and balanced outputs

The CD-2 reads Compact Discs only: no video and no multiple formats, a choice that for Lyngdorf keeps the design straightforward and avoids the resampling and interference typical of universal transports. Conversion is handled by a Wolfson WM8740 chip placed in a balanced circuit, followed by an output stage available on both RCA and XLR.

The switch-mode power supply is designed by Lyngdorf: the transformer has four independent secondaries, so the digital section and the analogue one receive separate current and digital noise stays away from the audio signal. The chassis is fully grounded and shields the unit from outside interference. Those who use an external converter or a digital amplifier will find the coaxial output, galvanically isolated, and the optical one.
