A compact vacuum record cleaning machine: it wet-cleans and dries an LP in one or two turns, with a magnetic clamp that protects the label. For anyone after deep groove cleaning without giving up much space.
VC-E2: how it works
A dry brush before playing lifts surface dust, but reaching the bottom of the groove takes a wet wash. That is the job of the VC-E2: the record turns at 30 revolutions per minute, the fluid is spread by hand with the supplied brush, and the vacuum arm draws it off together with the dirt. The motor is strong enough to leave the vinyl dry and residue-free inside two rotations, and the process also takes away static charge.
The clamp is magnetic: it sits on the record and holds, with nothing to screw down, so flipping sides is quick. Besides fixing the disc it seals off the label, keeping it clear of the fluid. The arm is metal, rigid, and puts all of the suction onto the playing surface; it works with a newly designed self-adhesive strip. Fluid that has been drawn off ends up in a 0.5-litre internal tank that is simple to empty.
The box includes 100 ml of Wash it 2, Pro-Ject's alcohol-free cleaner. It comes ready mixed, so nothing has to be diluted and there is no risk of reaching for unsuitable tap water; it also evaporates inside the tank, which rarely needs emptying. The cabinet uses 5 mm aluminium composite panels and a vapour outlet revised over the earlier model. The machine is built in Europe and takes 12-inch records; a separate kit covers 7-inch singles.
