Technology and Construction
The streaming section of NDX 2 uses the latest low noise, high speed, low voltage differential signal (LVDS) network card. The higher speed allows decoding of all high definition audio formats up to 32bit/384kHz or DSD128. Instead of having the source manage the timing, the new network card works the other way around to allow the DAC clock to control the flow of audio data. The data is upsampled in a SHARC DSP to incredible 40-bit accuracy before being processed by the Burr-Brown digital-to-analog converter.
Developing a new streaming platform has been one of the biggest projects we've ever undertaken. Naim engineers from all disciplines - electronic, industrial, acoustic and mechanical - worked for three years to create a system that would take full advantage of online services such as TIDAL and Spotify, ensuring future-proof flexibility through the integration of Chromecast. This robust streaming platform supports higher data rates with dual-band Wi-Fi and the latest 802.11ac protocol, we've engineered it to perform at every level.
