NRG-Z2: C7 power cable in Perfect-Surface Copper+
AudioQuest NRG-Z2 is a mains cable for devices with a two-pole C7 inlet: streamers, DACs, game consoles, powered desktop speakers and other compact electronics. The C7 connector has a slim profile, handy where room behind the device is tight.
Compared with long-grain copper cables, NRG-Z2 moves to Perfect-Surface Copper+ conductors and pairs them with ZERO-Tech and silver-plated drain wires: purer metal, uncompressed current, radio-frequency noise kept away from the circuits.
Conductors and geometry
Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) is a very pure copper with an exceptionally smooth surface. The process lowers the distortion that in every metal conductor arises both at the borders between grains and from surface irregularities.
The strands follow the Semi-Solid Concentric geometry: tight and always in the same place inside the bundle, which cuts the distortion that comes from strands interacting. ZERO-Tech joins a low DC resistance to the absence of characteristic impedance, so the transients the music programme calls for are not choked by the cable.
Noise reduction
Silver-plated, direction-controlled drain wires collect RF noise from the live and neutral shields and take it away efficiently. Direction-Controlled Conductors complete the Noise-Dissipation system: the direction of each conductor is selected by ear, batch after batch, so that induced noise is dissipated and discharged in the correct way.
Connector and lengths
On the device side NRG-Z2 carries a slim two-pole C7 connector, on the mains side a European plug. The lengths in the range are 1 m, 2 m and 3 m.
