NRG-Z3: three-pole power cable with PSC+ and RF/ND-Tech
AudioQuest NRG-Z3 is a three-pole mains cable for streamers, DACs, game consoles, powered desktop speakers and other electronics with an earthed mains inlet. It brings together Perfect-Surface Copper+ conductors, ZERO-Tech, silver-plated drain wires and, on the earth conductor, the patented RF/ND-Tech technology.
It is a cable designed around two goals: handing over current without compressing it, and stopping radio-frequency noise from reaching the most delicate audio and video circuits.
Conductors and geometry
Perfect-Surface Copper+ (PSC+) is a copper of great purity with an extremely smooth surface: the process tames the distortion that in every metal conductor stems from the borders between grains and from breaks in the surface. The Semi-Solid Concentric geometry holds the strands tight and still in the bundle, sharply cutting the distortion that comes from strands interacting.
With ZERO-Tech, the low DC resistance needed for high currents is joined by the absence of characteristic impedance: the transients the audio signal calls for reach the device uncompressed.
Noise reduction
The earth conductor guards against short circuits but also behaves like an antenna: it picks up RF noise that skips past the device's power supply and ends up in its most sensitive circuits. RF/ND-Tech counters this with a common-mode phase-cancelling network and with proprietary dielectric materials that add differential linear filtering, over a very wide band of radio frequencies.
Silver-plated, direction-controlled drain wires carry RF noise from the live and neutral shields towards earth through the third contact. All conductors are Direction-Controlled, with the direction chosen by ear on every batch.
Plug and lengths
On the mains side NRG-Z3 carries a European Schuko plug. There are three lengths in the range: 1 m, 2 m and 3 m.
