A round two-way in-ceiling speaker with a 165 mm woofer and a 19 mm tweeter behind the PPA lens. It is the mid-sized model in the CI Home series, offered as a pair for music around the house.
CI Home H65-R v2: the design
The CI Home H65-R v2 is the classic round speaker for a suspended ceiling: a single ABS frame carries woofer and tweeter on the same axis, with the handover between them at 3 kHz. On axis the response stays within ±2 dB between 70 Hz and 20 kHz, and 30° to the side it holds up to 18 kHz, so you need not stand directly beneath it to hear the treble properly. Room sensitivity of 89 dB makes it an easy load for multiroom amplifiers rated between 15 and 80 W.
The tweeter sits behind a perforated lens, the PPA, which does two jobs: it shields the dome and it works as a phase plug, stopping out-of-phase energy so the treble reaches higher and more evenly. Ferrofluid damps and cools it. The cone is polypropylene loaded with minerals and is driven by an oversized ferrite magnet, a choice that gives a readable midrange and clean bass for a speaker of this size.
Fitting has been thought through for the installer: recessed screw seats guide the driver bit, the ABS clamps have a Torx lead-in that stops the screw head stripping, and they grip the plasterboard around the opening, stiffening it. The cable terminals take banana plugs, pins or stripped wire. The frameless micro-perforated grille attaches with neodymium magnets and can be painted; pre-construction brackets and square grilles are available as extras.
