A hybrid three-and-a-half-way floorstander sold as a pair: passive Truextent beryllium midrange and treble, powered bass from four 215 mm X-PAL woofers in a sealed enclosure, and ARC room correction. It is the top model in the Persona range.
Persona 9H: the active bass section
The H stands for hybrid: in the Persona 9H the midrange and tweeter are driven by the system amplifier, while the low end has its own amplification inside the cabinet. There are four 215 mm woofers with very long-throw X-PAL aluminium cones, Differential Drive motors and 38 mm dual voice coils; two face forwards and two face the rear, and they work in a sealed enclosure instead of a bass-reflex one.
There are three handover points: 2.4 kHz between tweeter and midrange, 400 Hz between midrange and the front woofers, both third-order, and 200 Hz with a second-order slope for the rear woofers. The active section includes Anthem Room Correction: using the calibrated microphone in the box, the system measures the response at the listening position and adapts the bass to the room. Stated on-axis response is 19 Hz - 45 kHz within ±2 dB, extending to 15 Hz (DIN).
The 178 mm midrange and 25 mm dome are Truextent beryllium, each behind a perforated PPA lens; the former has an Inverse Differential Drive neodymium motor, the latter is ferrofluid cooled. Sensitivity is 96 dB in room and 93 dB anechoic into a load that suits 8 ohm amplifiers of 15 to 500 W. Each speaker measures 132 × 30 × 52 cm, weighs 86 kg and has 3/4 inch threaded inserts for spikes. It is built in Canada.
