The Premier 720F V2 is a three-way floorstanding speaker with four drivers: a 25 mm ceramic tweeter, a 152 mm midrange and two 152 mm Carbon-X woofers in a ported cabinet about a metre tall. It is sold as a pair.
Premier 720F V2: what is inside
With the 720F V2 the Premier V2 range moves to three-way working: voices and instruments get a dedicated midrange, while bass is left to a pair of woofers. The cabinet stands 100.6 cm tall, 31.8 cm wide and 43.2 cm deep, weighs 26 kg and has its reflex tuning at the rear. Paradigm pitches the series as a way into high-end sound, for music as much as for cinema at home.
The 25 mm tweeter has an AL-MAC ceramic dome, the OSW oblate-spheroid waveguide, the perforated PPA lens and ferrofluid to damp and cool it. The 152 mm midrange uses an AL-MAG aluminium and magnesium cone behind a second PPA lens, driven by a 51 mm multi-layer high-temperature voice coil. Each of the two 152 mm woofers has a one-piece, very long-throw Carbon-X cone, third-generation ART with the Vertical Mounting System and a 25 mm coil; every coil is wound on a vented Apical former.
The second-order electro-acoustic crossover hands over at 500 Hz between woofers and midrange and at 1.3 kHz between midrange and tweeter. On-axis response is quoted as 55 Hz to 23 kHz within ±3 dB (up to 20 kHz at 30° off axis) and bass extension reaches 27 Hz (DIN). With 92 dB sensitivity in room, 89 dB anechoic and an 8 ohm compatible load, it suits amplifiers of 15 to 220 W; maximum input power is 180 W.
