The XR11 is a sealed active subwoofer with a 279 mm ultra-long-throw driver, Class-D amplifier, app control and ARC Genesis room correction with microphone, for high-level stereo and multichannel systems in domestic rooms.
XR11: driver and cabinet
With the XR series Paradigm set out to see how far a compact sealed subwoofer can be taken while keeping an eye on appearance: a cabinet that looks at home in a living room. The XR11 is the smaller of the two models and uses a 279 mm driver with a one-piece CARBON-X cone, Trilinear suspension and a ridged ART surround, moved by a 1.5-inch voice coil rated for high temperatures. Radiating area is 0.043 m² and the volume of air displaced is 3 litres.
The sealed cabinet is stiffened by Cascade-Fusion internal braces, while the Shock-Mount arrangement decouples the parts from vibration. On-axis response covers 20 to 140 Hz within ±3 dB, and the lower limit is 14 Hz to the DIN standard. The built-in amplifier is Class D and powers up by itself or from a trigger; its output has not yet been published by the maker, which is repeating the measurements.
Connectivity is thorough: stereo or mono RCA inputs plus a dedicated LFE RCA, a balanced XLR for LFE and high-level inputs for both channels, with isolated input grounding. Polarity can be flipped, phase is adjustable between 0° and 180°, and every setting is reached through the phone app. ARC Genesis correction, with the microphone packed in the box, measures the room and adapts the subwoofer's response. The model is offered in several finishes.
