R18s: maximum radiating area for deep, physical bass
With its 460 mm woofer, the R18s is the R-Series model for listeners prioritising displacement, perceived depth and authority in large volumes.
Amplifier power remains 1000 W, as on the R15s and R12s; what changes is how that power becomes movement. The larger cone can create a given output with less relative excursion, but demands space, a suitable room and calibration that does not mistake quantity for quality.

Who chooses an 18-inch subwoofer?
The R18s is intended for large rooms and listeners seeking the physical sensation of subsonic frequencies. Its broad diaphragm moves substantial air without relying solely on extreme excursion. It is not automatically right for a small room: size and room coupling may make consistent bass harder to achieve than with an R12s or several compact units.
Why it shares 1000 W with the R15s
Electrical power and acoustic capacity do not rise in a straight line. The 460 mm driver changes efficiency, area and mechanical load, and the design matches the same nominal power to a different transducer. The R18s targets scale and ease on the deepest notes, while the R15s offers a less demanding cabinet and the R12s greater integration freedom.
Without THX certification
Like the R15s, the R18s states no THX certification. That does not make it inferior, but changes the selection method: judge it by the real design, required output, distance and measured in-room response rather than a certified target. Anyone specifically requiring THX Ultra or Dominus should consider the push-pull R210s and R212s.
Essential adjustment, not a repeated list
The R18s carries the R Series' processor, DSP, PEQ, phase, RCA/XLR connections, display, app and trigger. With an 18-inch driver these tools manage room peaks and blend the large transducer without making it localisable. Equalisation cannot fill deep cancellations caused by poor placement.
