Pro-Ject Flatten it

A heated-plate record flattener: it brings warped vinyl back to flat using controlled, even heat, so that discs which skip or distort because of the warp can be played properly again.

Flatten it: plates and temperature control

A wavy record makes the cartridge work badly: skips, pops, distortion. The Flatten it tackles the cause, pressing the vinyl between heated aluminium plates that spread warmth uniformly over the whole surface. The treatment is gradual and conceived so as not to stress the disc. The machine accepts every format and every thickness, heavyweight pressings included.

The delicate point of any record flattener is thermal accuracy. Here the temperature is regulated with a hysteresis of only 2 °C: the gap between the heating switching on and off is minimal and the plates stay close to the set value. The Italian distributor mentions a display on the top side.

The body is solid aluminium throughout, a choice that brings sturdiness and a long service life, and operation is simple. It runs on a 12 V direct-current supply. Production is European. Pro-Ject recommends reading the frequently asked questions on its own website before treating any records.
